An Inside Look

An Inside Look Into IndiEire Games – David Meehan

After looking at what goes on behind the scenes of IndiEire Games, we return to ‘An Inside Look’ this week where we talk to David Meehan the 3D Artist of the team. Studying at Ballyfermot college, David is experienced in using 3ds Max, a 3D modeling, animation, and rendering software, and Maya, a computer animation software. When he’s not creating 3D models and working on projects David also enjoys a variety of  other hobbies such as keeping active by running and swimming, and also by playing games and snooker.

Talking about what got him into game development, David discussed how it simply came from having an interest in playing video games. He went on to discuss about how having a keen interest in gaming and not giving up on what he sets out to do is what has gotten him to where he is today and hopes by continuing on this path he will be able to create high quality work. Although David has high ambitions on what he hopes to achieve in the future, he also admitted how difficult it can be to get started in the gaming industry today.

I am still very new to creating games and still know very little about the industry.

However, that does not deter him from what he desires to do as the thought of having a full time job in game development keeps him motivated to achieve his dreams. Along with what keeps him motivated, David also talked about the influences that helps him come up with ideas for games that he is working on.

I like to think back to games I have played in the past and what the developers used in their games that worked really well.

Through nostalgia as a source of inspiration David uses this along with the new technologies available today to develop games that he is working on and inspires him to think towards the future and what he hopes to do. Making a game that he would play himself is defiantly something that David would like to achieve. Being a big fan of shooter games David is achieving many of his goals sooner than he though as that’s actually what he is working on at the moment.

With so many talented and ambitious people on board of IndiEire’s team, there is no doubt as to how far they can go and to what kind of games they can create in the future. So keep a look out on this space including some of our other social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to keep up-to-date on new and exciting news on IndiEire Games
